In January 2007, I attended an audition for Britain has got talent
at the ICC in Birmingham
I was asked to do my piece, which I did dancing to its raining men by the weather girls. I
chose this track as I used to go night clubbing in the 80s and I bought an 80s CD and this was the most appropiate track on
it.
After performing I had a lengthy interview which was filmed. After the interview I was asked
to perform again in front the other contenstants in the holding room.
In February 2007 I was called back to perform in front of a live audience at the Alexandra
theatre in Birmingham. A 1000 people were watching me and so was Simon Cowell, Amanada Holden and Piers Morgan.
Before the audition I was interviewed by Ant and Dec and they said to me they had never heard
so many puns one after the other.
I then had an interview with Stephen Mulhern from ITV2, he asked me do some of my moves. I
do this one where I jump in the air and kick my legs out. He said lets do the moves together, he was standing too close to
me and me foot hit his foot and he fell backward and pulled the posters down as it was being filmed in the reception area.
I then went for my audition, when I finshed I did the dying fly from Tiswas and Simon Cowell
was waving at me to stop.
His comments were that if you go to a pub on a Friday night there is always somebody who is
drunk and he dances just like you.
I am sure Amanda asked if I was on drugs.
The all voted no, and Simon said that is a resounding never.
On the way off stage Ant and Dec said they liked the backward roll and what did I call it,
I said a backward roll which had them in stitches.
At the end of May I had a phone call and was asked if they could film me at work and make out
as if it was the day after the audition and also would I appear live on ITV2
I was filmed at work and they kept getting me to say yesterday I was doing an audition now
I am back to reality.
I then went to London perform live on ITV2 and did my piece live in front of a small audience
I met Simon Cowell again who remembered me and I put one of my business cards in his top pocket.
Over all it was a faboulous experience and great exposure.
